Prison server glossary
Prison has more jargon than any other Minecraft gamemode, most of it undocumented. Here is the lot.
Progression
- Rankup
- Spending money to move from one lettered mine to the next, usually
/rankup. - A to Z
- The twenty-six standard mines, in ascending value.
- Free rank
- A rank granted on first join rather than sold, often
/freerank. - Prestige (P)
- Resetting your rank to A for a permanent bonus. P1, P2 and so on.
- Rebirth (R)
- Resetting your prestige count for a larger permanent bonus. R1, R2 and so on.
- Prestige mine
- A mine only reachable at a given prestige, usually far more valuable.
The pickaxe
- Custom enchant
- A server-added pickaxe enchant, bought with tokens or money, levelled far past vanilla.
- Token
- The secondary currency most servers use for pickaxe enchants.
- Proc
- An enchant firing. "Proc chance" is how often it triggers per block or per swing.
- AoE
- Area of effect. An enchant that breaks a region rather than one block.
- Autosell
- An enchant or perk that sells mined blocks instantly, skipping the sell chest.
- Bomb / nuke / explosive
- Names for the large AoE block-breaking family.
Economy
- Sell price
- What a block is worth. The single most important number on the server.
- Multiplier
- A percentage boost to sell price, from ranks, crates, gangs, boosters or the store.
- Booster
- A temporary multiplier, often server-wide when someone activates one.
- Sink
- Anything that removes money from the economy. Rankups, enchants, key shops.
- Backpack / PV
- Extra storage.
/pvis a common command for it. - Keyall
- Staff granting a crate key to every online player at once.
Social and combat
- Gang
- A player group with a shared bank and levelled perks. Also crew, clan or team.
- Plot
- Claimed land in the plot world, for storage, shops or building.
- Warp
- A named teleport, typically
/warp mineor/warp pvp. - Full drop
- A PvP zone where death costs your inventory.
- 1.8 PvP
- Pre-1.9 combat mechanics, with no attack cooldown. Still the prison standard.
Server life
- Season / reset
- A scheduled wipe of progress, usually with a new feature set.
- OP prison
- Prison with heavily scaled numbers. See OP vs classic.
- Classic prison
- Prison at close to vanilla sell values, where the A to Z ladder is the whole game.
- P2W
- Pay to win. Whether the store sells things you cannot otherwise earn.

- How Minecraft prison servers work The mine, the sell command, the rankup, the plot world and the PvP warp: the five things every prison server is built from.
- Prison ranks, prestige and rebirths explained A to Z is the tutorial. Prestige resets your rank for a multiplier, rebirth resets your prestige for a bigger one, and that loop is the real game.
- Prison pickaxe enchants: what each family actually does Custom prison enchants fall into four families: block breaking, money, utility and proc-chaining. Knowing which is which tells you where to spend.
- Prison economies: sell prices, multipliers and inflation Every prison economy is one ratio, sell price against rankup cost, and one failure mode, multiplier inflation with no sink.
